MIDDLE EAST - Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has revealed its efforts to promote conservations and sustainability have yielded positive results in 2014.

ADNEC recycled 39 tonnes of paper, 63 tonnes of cardboard, three tonnes of metals, three tonnes of coal and 203kg of soft drinks cans.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, acting group CEO of ADNEC, said: “We are constantly developing new systems and procedures that allow us to minimize the impact of our business on environment through the use of innovative technologies.

“Today, ADNEC stands out as a regional success model for the implementation of sustainability standards as an integral part of our daily work.”

He added: “We also encourage other organisations to follow suit.”

ADNEC currently recycles the cooking oil used in its different facilities to produce biofuel that runs small cranes across the venue, and uses solar power to operate elevators and lighting.
