Dubai, UAE: In response to the “UAE Compassion” initiative directed by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and supported by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to deliver emergency relief supplies to the thousands of refugees in the Levant region, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched its own campaign encouraging staff, customers and its members from the business community to donate warm clothing and cash for this immediate life-saving aid campaign.
At the conclusion of the campaign, Dubai Chamber will donate an equal amount collected from the donations contributed by its staff, customers and members of the business community to be distributed through UAE-based aid agencies to the refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Gaza and Palestinian territories.
The Chamber has also urged the representatives of the various business groups and business councils operating under its umbrella to join this humanitarian campaign, while highlighting the importance of corporate social responsibility amongst their respective members coming from different parts of the world.
H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber stated that the campaign is part of Dubai Chamber’s commitment towards the society and the needy, as well as its corporate social responsibility strategy whose aim is to promote responsible and sustainable business practices amongst the business community.
“This humanitarian gesture, launched by the country’s leaders is very timely due to the onslaught of the tough winter months and will surely help alleviate the sufferings of the refugees camping out in inhuman conditions,” he said.
The President and CEO of Dubai Chamber called upon his members of staff, customers and the business community to carry out their humanitarian duties towards the communities and the world at large in the famed philanthropist tradition the country is known for.
