Hotel Performance Metrics in the Palm Beaches Announced Through October

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 20, 2017) – Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), the official tourism marketing corporation for Palm Beach County, announced positive results in the three key hotel performance metrics for October 2017.

According to data research company STR, the destination had 75.5 percent occupancy, which is a 15.8 percent increase over the same time period last year. A record-breaking number of room nights were sold in The Palm Beaches: 396,000, which was up 19.7 percent year over year. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased 21.1 percent.

January through October of 2017, occupancy was at 73.9 percent, room nights sold grew by 4.2 percent and average daily rate (ADR) grew 1 percent to $169. RevPAR growth was up 3.3 percent.

Following Hurricane Irma, DTPB aggressively promoted the message that the destination’s tourism industry was open for business. The organization also crafted meetings and groups-specific messaging, and created multiple videos featuring local hotels and attractions to showcase that the destination was ready for visitors.

“The Palm Beaches saw dramatic occupancy increases year-over-year for the month of October, even while our room inventory increased,” explained Jorge Pesquera, president and CEO for DPTB. “While being sensitive to the areas that were negatively impacted by Hurricane Irma, we do want to celebrate that so far this year, all our hotel performance metrics show positive growth. We’re confident that tourism will continue to see increases across the board for the rest of the year, as we continue to promote the destination’s amazing range of authentic experiences as ‘The Best Way To Experience Florida®’.”
